CurbWorth Terms of Service
CurbWorth points you at free stuff other people posted. It is not a marketplace and is never a party to the pickup.
Agreement
These terms govern your use of CurbWorth, operated by Heathrow Andrews, an individual, in Portland, Oregon, USA ("we," "us," "CurbWorth"). By using CurbWorth, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
What CurbWorth is
CurbWorth aggregates publicly visible listings from third-party marketplaces, including Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, and Nextdoor, that appear to be genuinely free ($0), ranks them by freshness, approximate distance, and estimated resale value, and links you to the original listing. Version 1 covers the Portland, Oregon metro only. CurbWorth is a discovery and alerting tool — it is not a marketplace, does not process transactions or payments, and is not a party to any exchange between you and a listing's poster.
No account required
CurbWorth does not require you to create an account. An anonymous device identifier lets us remember your saves and alert settings on that device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Notifications
The CurbWorth iOS app sends local notifications from your own device. It checks the CurbWorth feed for listings posted since its last check and raises a banner for each new free listing it has not already shown you, up to eight per check. Those banners are not filtered by your alert keywords or your minimum value; keywords and minimum value filter the feed you browse and the Web Push alerts our server sends to a browser-installed CurbWorth. Server-sent alerts also have a mode: "Only my words" pings you for your keywords, and "Everything new" pings you for every new free find, which the app itself warns is a lot. You control notifications through iOS notification settings and the app's own alert switch. Alert delivery depends on the app running and on the CurbWorth service being reachable; we do not guarantee that any specific listing produces an alert, or that an alert arrives before the item is claimed.
Alert settings also include an optional ntfy backup. It stays off unless you paste an ntfy topic into it yourself. If you do, we also post each alert to that topic on https://ntfy.sh. A self-hosted HTTPS ntfy server can be configured on the instance itself, but the app ships no control that sets one, so in practice the destination is ntfy.sh. That server is a third party we neither run nor control, and delivery, retention, and who can read a topic are its business, not ours. Clear the field to stop it. The Privacy Policy says exactly what is sent.
Listing accuracy and third-party content
CurbWorth surfaces listings that originate from other platforms, not from us. We do not create, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any listing — price, availability, condition, free-versus-not status, or the poster's identity. Listings can be removed, changed, or already claimed by the time you see them. Always verify a listing on its original source before acting on it, and use your own judgment about safety when meeting anyone to pick up an item. CurbWorth's estimated resale values are informational only, are derived from live eBay asking prices rather than completed-sale data, and are not appraisals or guarantees of what an item is worth.
CurbWorth applies automated safety screening to suppress or flag categories of items (recalled products, certain used safety equipment, restricted goods), but this screening is not exhaustive and is not a substitute for your own judgment.
Acceptable use
Do not use CurbWorth to:
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute CurbWorth's aggregated data or rankings as your own product.
- Interfere with or overload CurbWorth's service or its upstream sources.
- Use CurbWorth for any unlawful purpose, or to harass or misuse the contact information of any listing poster.
Availability
CurbWorth is early software, served for one metro area at a time from infrastructure that may have downtime, maintenance windows, or capacity limits. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may add, change, or discontinue features, including coverage of a metro area, at any time.
Disclaimer of warranties
CurbWorth is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that listings are accurate, that value estimates are correct, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Heathrow Andrews is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of CurbWorth, including any interaction with a third-party listing, poster, or marketplace you find through the app.
Third-party marketplace terms
Listings shown in CurbWorth originate from third-party platforms with their own terms of service. Your interactions with those platforms — viewing the original listing, contacting a poster, completing a pickup — are governed by their terms, not ours. Listing photos are not copied to our server: your device loads them from those platforms' own image servers as they render, so a request reaches them whenever a photo appears. See the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as CurbWorth changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of CurbWorth is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.
